Not necessarily from Nepali commenters, but at least restaurants frequented by them. I’m partial to Nepali Bhanchha Ghar in Jackson Heights which has a big Nepali population.

replying to u/allasimulation: IMO NYC has some of the best italian american and jewish diner food in the world. I'd prioritize that. For brunch/breakfast, I'd go to Agi's Counter in prospect/crown heights. A busy but excellent spot serving Jewish diner and grandma fare. It's my favorite place for brunch in the city. Get the tuna melt. And get there early to avoid lines. For something more casual/quick -- but still classic NYC -- I'd get a lox or white fish bagel sandwich from Shelsky's. Classic jewish deli and bagel spot. My personal dinner go-to would be Via Carota. It's often ranked on viral lists as one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, and it is really that good -- and importantly, consistent. If you get there early enough, you can avoid lines. My favorites include the cacio e pepe pasta, negroni bianco, fried green olives with pork sausage, and bruschetta with cultured butter and anchovies. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, the service is superb. Another place I haven't been but have heard great things about is Michael's of Brooklyn -- classic red sauce / white table cloth restaurant in deep South Brooklyn. Great for a special occasion. And if you haven't been, Lucali's is also another great option. You can get what some consider the best pizza in the city -- and even better are their calzones. Lines are also crazy but it's worth going once and a good way to say goodbye to NYC.

I've never had panipuri either, but that does sound good, so definitely adding that to my list. I think the non-descriptive way is the way I have to go though, thanks. Momos are something I have on my list, hopefully to knock off before the end of the month. I was going to head to a place called While in Kathmandu, but if you have any specific restaurants for any of those "meat/veggies in a dough", that would be appreciated too.

replying to u/thansal: As everyone said, you went all out. How did you get out to Bayside? Bus/taxi or did you have a car? For Playground: don't sleep on their crispy pork, I honestly think it's one of the best around. We tend to get a pad kra pao w/ moo grob, the 'curried rice croquets' (Nam Khao Tod, this is my death row dish, though I think Hug Esan does it a little better) and the fried pork jerky (perfect 'good w/ beer' food). Momo Crave: My favorite momos, but I honestly tend to not like momos (just a style/taste thing). We've always described indo-chinese Chilli flavor as 'like Gen. Tso's but way better', and theirs is super addicting. That said, I think the sukuti and sandeko are even more unique (and spicy), 100% worth trying those next time. Also, their veg filling is my favorite for whatever reason.

There is an annual contest in Jackson Heights (the "Momo Crawl") where people vote on which restaurant has the best momos in Jackson Heights, and Nepali Bhanchha Ghar has won more than any other restaurant. Also they're directly across from the Q70 stop. I know this isn't directly responsive to your question... but you can get burgers and pasta at home. You almost certainly can't get what they have in Jackson Heights.
