replying to u/thighcandy: Rezdora used to be maybe my favorite pasta spot in the city up until late ~2021. Particularly, I remember the sommelier being incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. Things have changed though. I took my fiancee there in mid 2022 and they had a different sommelier who was terrible, both as a sommelier and person. For context's sake I am more of the wino than my fiancee who generally doesn't know much about it, but will still enjoy a nice glass of wine. Enter this new som who immediately came in with an attitude. She at first offered the wine list to my fiancee who politely declined as I chimed in and asked for the wine list instead. Upon this request, the som told me to "let your girlfriend speak for herself" and insisted she take the list instead. Annoying and pushy but not the end of the world. The somm gives her little spiel, and naturally my Fiancee just asks for a recommendation because she doesn't really know shit. The somm recommends a bottle of some 2017 tuscan red which I found odd but who cares, we're here to have a nice time and she knew our price range. We had a great meal and the wine was acceptable, but certainly not the star of the show. It wasn't until the end that I saw the bottle she recommended was ~$400 and way outside the price range we asked. So if you go beware of this predatory practice from their sommelier. It was sleazy af and totally classless. I pointed out the transgression to the somm at the end of the dinner, and she implied that my f…

replying to u/awt1227: You can get awesome bottles of wine here at a very good price - the sommelier, Pascaline Lepeltier, is an absolute badass and also so welcoming. Zero judgment from her if your budget is on the low end and happily pointed us in the right direction on the menu without the blink of an eye. The food is also fantastic! Such a good recommendation

replying to u/Existing-Resist-1569: Chambers is very lovely and creative but still straightforward. Fradei is phenomenal and intimate. Place des Fetes, Claud, and Hart's fit that profile as well. I'd also recommend Sofreh or Eyval for outstanding Persian food and an upscale feeling.

replying to u/chi_eats: OP, I work in hospitality and while I am not a concierge, I've had to host many a client here and my hotel is a luxury property with a higher star rating than Warwick. Via Carota is good but it is not the holy grail of Italian Food and there are other options that are also gorgeous. \- **Italian:** L'artusi, Bar Primi (the one downtown - get a table upstairs), Scarpetta, Torrisi (res are hard here though) \- **New American:** Gramercy Tavern \- **Korean**: Atomix, Jungsik, Jua - all korean fine dining - I think Atomix has 2 stars now. I like Kochi but it feels more casual. **- Mexican** \- Cosme (Enrique Olvera is a star chef that opened Pujol in mexico city with the famous 1,000+ day mole - different, beautiful restaurant), Empellon is good too \- **French** \- Le Coucou but there's a bunch, Jean-Georges just opened Four Twenty Five - the chefs from Balthazars are now in other restaurants so follow the chef like... i think one went to Le Veau D'Or. Frenchette people are doing Le Rock. Cafe Chelsea similar to Via Carota vibe but French? \- **Cocktails**: Swan Room - Fabulous Martini Service, Lobby Bar at the Chelsea Hotel, Overstory, Manhatta (food is cool too but $$$$) \- Random: Claud has become my new favorite place for Wine and Food. It's beautiful but not "grand" - food is phenomenal. There are so many places!!!
