replying to u/JayMoots: Bill's Bar and Burger in Rockefeller Center is kind of a tourist trap but they do have a legit burger. If you're willing to go a little further *uptown*, Burger Joint at the Thompson Hotel is spectacular. If you're willing to go a little further *downtown*, Keen's has a great burger. Or if you want fast food, Shake Shack and 7th Street Burger always hit.

replying to u/amandabug: I think the current iteration is making bank off its previous reputation. I haven’t tried it recently but I used to go frequently in the Parker Meridien and it was so good. IMO it rivaled the burger at Corner Bistro, which was my favorite at the time.

replying to u/Fickle_Aardvark_8822: There’s apparently still one at the Le Meridien (now split into two parts with the Thompson), but in a different space. I’m closest to the one at Penn Station (now Moynihan), but they’re not even close in experience. The original location had the ordering rules, bustling atmosphere, tight, often-shared tabletops with stools, and an irreverent attitude. Now, it’s like a franchise. Burgers are still decent but nothing special to go out of the way for, sadly.

Pausing to remember fondly the amazing and long-gone Burger Joint on the Upper West Side. RIP Nick's, best burger in NYC for many decades.
