  • Bong is not that option. The food is simply not good enough to justify the hard stools, the cramped space, the obnoxiously loud music, and the fact that you are sitting 3 feet from the restroom, which is probably one of the most dimly lit restrooms I’ve seen.

  • replying to u/Big_Split_9484: And here comes the hard truth to swallow, which honestly I suspected from the beginning. Bong is probably just a casual restaurant, which is not a bad thing at all, showcasing a cuisine that barely has representation in New York, located in a part of Brooklyn that many Manhattan people still somehow consider “far” and exotic. I’m sure they’re solid. I’m sure the food posted here is meant to be shared. And I’m pretty sure the reason someone else mentioned they having a 500 sq ft dining room in the comments is because of the budget they had to work with to start the business. Not everyone has venture capital backing them these days, guys. They simply received way too much exposure and hype from a certain type of crowd. I’m not dismissing their shortcomings or OP’s feelings about the missing price/value. I’m just saying we should be realistic about what we’re dealing with here.

Personally I thought the food was incredible and enjoyed the atmosphere

  • I’ve been to Bong like five times, love the Cambodian craft they put into their cuisine and the intimacy of the space; however, the cost stings a bit more than other spots in the city.

  • The food was good though I found the entrees much better than the smaller plates. For traditional Cambodian, I would recommend Bayon more but this was very tasty.
