There is a new Serendipity 3 location in Times Square on 47th street that does happy hour and has American food. That might be fun. There’s also del frisco’s grille on 51st between 5th and 6th- close to the Gershwin. Unclear if they do happy hour but they may.

I'm sure there will be other comments that will give to recommendations to the more high end places. However, if you are looking for not-as-fancy but solidly good places where no reservation is needed, this is where we tend to eat: Pio Pio 8 on 44th and 10th (the basement dining area is loud, but the chicken is amazing.) Obao- 9th and 45th-- Vietnamese fusion and good cocktails Marseille- 9th and 44th (I actually like this better for drinks and dessert, but dinner is good, too.) Becco- Restaurant Row, 46th between 8th and 9th (good Italian pasta, slightly touristy.) Le Rivage- Restaurant Row, 46th between 8th and 9th (reasonable and tasty, standard French) Dim Sum Palace on Restaurant Row is also delicious, but not romantic in the least- if you are just looking to chow down on yummy Chinese food and good cocktails, tho.... LumLum Thai- 49th between 9th and 10th. Gossip- 9th and 50th. This is an Irish bar with a dining room in the back. It is not at all fancy or innovative or notable, but it consistently has very good Irish and American food. I particularly like the fish and chips or the Irish Chicken Curry Stir Fry. Also- if you are looking to go for a drink after the show: Deacon Brodies (Restaurant Row.) Chill Scottish Bar. However, I hadn’t been in a few years and just looked at the price and $37 just seems like too much money for what you’re getting. I remember when it was like $22-$25 and I thought that was worth it.
