replying to u/haybe12: Absolute Bagel closed unfortunately but if you want to get a good bagel uptown I suggest Bo’s Bagels. If you can’t get into Shukette, they have a sister restaurant called Shuka that is also great. Good luck getting into some of these places, reservations are hard to come by so def try going at non-peak times like late lunch (specifically Carbone, Four Horsemen, 4 Charles, Torrisi)

replying to u/Infinite_Vanilla4753: Yes, Shuka!! Was a hostage during a meal with the longest waits ever, received only a couple complimentary desserts on an $1000+ check. Went for a friend’s birthday with about 8 friends. We were seated around 30-40 mins late and they came around a couple of times to say just that the table was almost ready. Once we were seated, we ordered a prix fixe situation. The small plates came out immediately (and were so good) but our mains took over an hour to come out. We didn’t say anything but the manager came over after about 30 minutes and apologized for the wait. We got them, we ate them, they were tasty, and then we were so excited to get out of there and get home. It was a weeknight, we didn’t think we’d be out that late, etc etc. The server came over and asked if we wanted dessert & we said no just the check. They came back a few minutes later with two complimentary desserts for the wait and still no check!! A nice concession I guess but we were now the last people in the restaurant & had been wishing the ordeal was over for an hour. When we finally were able to leave, the music was off in the restaurant, the back of house staff was leaving, and the lights were being turned off. We spent about $1000 after tip and (having worked in many restaurants myself) I was shocked they didn’t comp one of our two $60 bottles of wine instead of sending desserts we literally didn’t want.
