replying to u/donut_butt: You can't mention Peter Pan on this sub without someone mentioning Moe's Dough, and claiming that it's better. That hasn't been my personal experience, but I wanted to do a head-to-head to prove this out. If you've never had a cream crumb, it's amazing: whipped cream frosting with cake crumbs on it. A lot lighter (and less sweet) than other donuts. Frosting-wise, I was surprised at how sweet the Moe's version is. It's basically like a cupcake buttercream frosting, doused in powdered sugar that had an offputting metallic taste. Peter Pan's tasted a lot more like whipped cream, so that was an easy winner for me. Donut-wise: the Peter Pan donut actually had a slightly bitter oily taste, but the yeasty flavor was more pronounced, with a tighter crumb. On the other hand, the Moe's donut was fluffier, but was virtually tasteless. I'd put them pretty much even. In sum: I greatly prefer the Peter Pan donut, but if you like your frostings sweeter, I could see a case for Moe's. Side note: my theory about Moe's is that their cake donuts are better than Peter Pan. The latter is historically far better at making yeast donuts. Maybe an experiment for someone else to undertake.

So delicious and wonderful and still warm from the fryer. I also got glazed donuts that were deliciously pillowy, with the right amount of vanilla flavor. The box is baker’s choice, so I’ll enjoy exploring whatever flavors are in there as well. But seriously, that apple fritter is HUGE and I love it and will name it Betty and love her forever.
