La Grande BoucherieCHAIN

4.8/10French

AI-generated summary

People go for the room, not the food. The covered atrium is stunning, especially around Christmas, and it works for a group or a night out to impress. The food gets called forgettable and overpriced, often over $100 a head for something people describe as merely adequate. The escargot is the one dish that gets steady praise, along with and a at the bar.

  • La Grand Boucherie is a good option because it's an 'outdoor plaza' type vibe that is actually covered and you wouldn't be on a busy street trying to have an important business meeting - that's important to consider (not having excessive traffic noise).

  • replying to u/StrategyOdd7170: I am supposed to go to Don Angie next week. I gave up a reservation at LaGrande Boucherie. Was that a mistake? Would love to hear other thoughts on this?

the butchers feast at bucherie was probably the worst meal I've had in NYC. No salt at all, came out cold. No care from the staff.

  • replying to u/DC25NYC: I feel like that area is either tourist central (aka you're a block from a place that will def treat you like family) and if its not that- its very upscale Le Bernadin etc. Maybe Grand Boucherie? It's pretty in there w a nice holiday vibe

I’ve always had a nice time there until this last meal, it’s like they called friends & family for last min help during the holidays or something. Service was slow, brought the wrong drinks 3 times/seemed to just smile & nod about questions about food, shoved us in back-to-back seating in the most packed “patio” area I’ve ever seen, gave us cold fries to “apologize” (must’ve been forgotten for someone else in the chaos) & the bill was just too much for all of that (over $100 pp).

  • Le grande boucherie is fine if you need somewhere nicer. It’s not the absolute best food in the world and it definitely has a high price tag but it’s gorgeous and you’ll have a lovely meal there.

  • replying to u/Smart_Freedom_8155: It's pricey, but La Grande Boucherie is excellent. Also had a good experience at Gallagher's.

Boucheries food is probably some of the worst I've ever had for the price range. Beautiful ambiance, terrible value food and drinks

  • replying to u/why_squ1rtle: U mean u don’t wanna stand outside jack wide Freda for a hour with 100 other people all standing to eat eggs and steak?

Boucherie is great food not overhyped.
