“The pho arrived lukewarm and was mostly soup with half a portion of noodles and barely any meat. The bill came out to $40, including tip. As a Vietnamese person, I was seriously pissed and disappointed.”
“The banh mi bread and rice noodles for pho are made in house at Banh Anh Em- it really makes the difference for the pho.”
“I also came for lunch today and had the scallop dish- the sauce it came with plus the fresh bread is one of the best bites I've had in some time.”
“To the credit of Banh’s chef, she actually traveled to Vietnam to bring back techniques and authentic cooking. A lot of the food is made in house like the bread, noodles, pate, and cold cuts.”
“I think banh anh em is overrated. I tried the crispy pork belly banh mi and the thit kho.”
“Overall the ingredients were really good, but the flavor profile felt a bit muted to me and kind of bland? Like the same flavors, just needs to pop more.”
“Although a bit on the fattier side, I thought the broth was so deeply rich and delicious. Noodles cooked perfectly and didn’t get soggy; meat quality 💯!”
“The portions were small. It was quite expensive for what I got. Not worth it.”
“Easily the best banh mi I've ever had and I've been to Vietnam several times. No one is coming close to their in house baked bread.”
“Banh Anh Em blows every banh mi in NYC away. You can't compete with their in house baked bread, it's literally the best bread I've ever tasted, soft as a cloud, best pate, best pickled veggies, the pork even tastes like they make it in house. No competition for them at all, simply due to the always fresh supply of baked bread around the clock.”
“To me the bread is too inconsequential, there’s hardly anything there, the filling is great but it’s almost like you’d need another piece of that bread to split the filling between the two, then the ratio would be right.”
“i thought the quality of everything was fantastic and the bahn mi are huge”
