These days, i prefer congee from Yinji chang fun (yes, they have very good chang fun also). For other cantonese entrees, there are quite a few places (I prefer), dimsum palace, August gathering (not really cantonese style), this newish place 100 feast and lounge, and etc., ...

replying to u/French-toast-stick1: You should go to manhattans Chinatown and try Wu’s Wonton King or Congee Village! Order a bunch of dishes and share them family style so you can try a little bit of everything! All the food in these places are delicious and not to expensive

replying to u/DanielMekelburg: i like yinji too. i often will get their fish congee, which is very good. the frog congee i had at congee village was on that level. and the crab dish was better than expected. and the snails were just about perfect. for what we ordered, it was unimprovable. there are a lot of cantonese spots in new york city. i chose this one on that particular evening. it was friday night, i was just rejected from about 5 hip spots and i was excited to be here after my dining partner relented and let us eat chinese.

replying to u/Ranier_Wolfnight: I used to live across the street from Congee Village for years. I’ve been to countless Chinese restaurants throughout the city. Never been to Congee once. It’s nothing against the spot or it’s food, I’m sure it’s good. It’s just a place that blended into the background of the neighborhood I lived at during the time. It was pretty much a street mural in my mind whenever I’d pass it. I dunno, odd to explain.
