BuvetteCHAIN

7.9/10French

AI-generated summary

Small French room where the steamed eggs and the with creme anglaise are what people order. The cassoulet is the cold weather pick and the matchstick fry gets named often. Portions are tiny and prices are steep, with an $11 lemonade. Seating is cramped and there's usually a line.

  • Never been more disappointed by a brunch spot. While the waitstaff are great and attentive, the food. In our opinion was just not worth it.

  • I went to buvette last fall as a treat and was totally underwhelmed.

  • Buvette in west village is also quite good, excellent flavour using a crème anglaise instead of maple syrup that also melts in your mouth. :)

  • Ambiance was amazing, waffles and salmon were delightful and the drinks were strong as well as the wonderful harpist who played Edith Piaf to my hearts content.

  • replying to u/misstheolddaysfan: Seconding hot dog breakfast at rudy's. I think they do the deviled egg jar too. So there's your meat and eggs. Also maybe down the hatch but its not what I would consider a dive bar.

The food is so good the drinks are amazing. And I'm pretty sure they do all the cooking using tiny corner countertop appliances. Its one of my favorite places.

  • Good vibes and drinks. Decent food (I liked the anchovies).

  • I’ve been telling anyone who would listen that this place isn’t mediocre, it’s just bad… They make such basic food for it to be this bad. I struggled to finish the croque monsieur.
