Otherwise, Pastrami Queen in the Upper East Side and Frankel's in Greenpoint have excellent pastrami. 2nd Ave is very good too.

Ordered 2nd Ave Deli delivery last week and the sandwich was much smaller than I remember (I almost always split with my husband, so it was especially small for him). On the flip side, I had PJ Bernsteins within the past month and their sandwiches are huge. I rarely see them make it to the top pastrami lists, but they’re really good!

Katz’s and Hometown have the best, Katz’s has a line and Hometown is wildly inconvenient. Xi’an is a chain at this point and the quality will continue to go down as they open more and more locations. Another place this sub seems to suggest often but there are better options. Looks like you enjoyed your trip though! Come back soon!

replying to u/Estri_Grobbulus: On the taco front, Tacos No. 1 is really solid for a high volume taco shop, but I would go to Tacqueira Ramirez over Tacos No. 1 of i was trying to do a best-of list over a list of just solid spots. That said, the key is to just have fun and take it all in. Trip will be a whirlwind, so it's okay if you miss some spots. Just means you need to come back :) cheers from Long Island City
