Sushi Noz

6.3/10Japanese

AI-generated summary

People split hard on Noz. Fans call the the best in the city and single out the otsumami and the rice. Critics say the price nearly doubled to around $550 and that you may get an understudy instead of Noz himself at the counter. The delivery boxes get raves too, and the $68 one is the cheap way in.

  • But it really is the apex of delivery sushi in this town: the fish, the rice, the presentation, the homemade soy sauce all combine to offer an aesthetic and overall sensorial experience that should not be accessible via phone in an hour or less.

  • Both of them were tasty, and the service very friendly and professional. While neither of the rolls were so brilliant so as to make me think that I have to go and make reservations at Sushi Noz right away, the fact that they were mass-producing this quality of roll definitely speaks well of them.

  • However the shari itself has a pleasant mild acidity with a firm texture, and some of the neta preparations (sumi-ika, awabi, amaebi) stood up to 3-star sushi restaurants in Japan, so I didn’t feel cheated or deceived.

the full Sushi Noz omakase will have around twice as many courses, including far more otsumami, multiple desserts, and nigiri that are a much wider variety of higher-quality fish all flown in from Japan.

  • replying to u/Cut-Proud: Oh interesting, is that specific to Sushi Noz or do you feel like $400+ omakase places are not worth it in general?

It was specific to noz for me. The courses weren't great, the toilet seat was broken, and the chef (we didn't get noz himself) didn't seem like he wanted to be there at all.
