  • The dumplings and wontons tastes exactly the same as most FJ places I grew up eating in Flushing and Brooklyn with one spot in Brooklyn being significantly better, and the peanut noodles again tastes the same but had a nice chew but again there's a place in Flushing that is the same way. The only stand out for me was the beef soup, the quality of it was above most places.

  • replying to u/joe_bibidi: King Dumplings is definitely a place where you should grab and go, IMO. Even if you just cross the street there's a bunch of public tables and chairs in the median on Allen which are visibly cleaner despite being outside. I guess they at least get rained on. Food is great though. Their peanut noodles aren't as good as Shu Jiao Fu Zhou, but for $3 it's a fuck ton of peanut noodles that are still pretty damn good.

Just my opinion, but I think the panfried dumplings at Shu Jiao Fu Zhou are noticeably better than King Dumplings; they have a crispier wrapper and more generous filling. Pricing-wise they're a little more expensive, but worth it imo

  • But the worst part we’re the bugs. So many of them crawling around on the walls and floor. I can only imagine what the kitchen was like. Lost my appetite and we left. So, so bad and I don’t get the hype.

  • The pork and chive dumplings is what really puts this spot on the map of good eats. Light and tasty. The peanut butter noodles really lack flavor compared to how my fuzhounese friends make it, it's a 5/10.

  • replying to u/liucifer: Shu Jiao Fu Zhou is down the block from Smoove Ice cream. They're popular for cheap dumplings and pretty quick.

Definitely for the Pork and Chives Fried Dumplings (the steamed ones are all fine too, but the fried ones are where they excel). The peanut noodles are decent too, albeit a bit one-note if you don't add hot sauce.

  • replying to u/yakitorispelling: Shu Jiao Fuzhou, still have nightmares about how nasty the tripe soup was. Tripe requires a lot cleaning with multiple boils and water changes with ginger, rice wine, vinegar, salt etc. They didnt bother cleaning it.

The wonton are also like really thin wrappers around a sad, flavorless pea-sized core of filling. Dumplings were good though
