Get the or the vada pav, which some people like even more than the chicken. It's all dark meat with Indian spices, raita and pickled veg. The spice levels used to run to 5 and now stop at 3, and regulars say even the hottest one barely registers now. A few still ask for the old level 5 off menu.

  • replying to u/The_CerealDefense: This place is fake instagram hype for 20/30 somethings. The sandwiches are nothing really special and the ultra high heat is just a gimmick on the menu.

they’re offering a unique flavor profile that works well, Indian spices on fried chicken. Adding in the raita for tang and to cool off the heat + the pickled veggies really sells the whole thing. The buns they use are great as well.

  • replying to u/Garconavecunreve: Believe me lvl 5 will be spicy - they don’t do it in midtown though I believe Or else: Dave’s hot chicken

They've completely changed the menu and toned down the spice levels. No more 4 and 5, and even 3 isn't what it was.

  • It was never that good. When I first went a few weeks after it opened, the chicken sandwich was fine in the sense that fried chicken was good, but I think the spice was unbalanced, the chicken was way too big for the sandwich and falling apart, and the bun was not up to the job.

  • replying to u/The_CerealDefense: 1) it was never that hot 2) they generally didn’t serve it at level even if you requested it 3) it is no longer offered because they didn’t actually do it, smoke and mirrors 4) they now offer only 3 spice levels as. The hottest is medium at best 5) this place is so overrated it’s bonkers. I like it. It’s nothing that special though. It’s a regular chicken sandwich dipped in hot sauce. That’s what it is.

What’s left behind is a decent but not spectacular chicken sandwich.
