  • Giant Shrimp/Prawn (truly giant, beats any in the city and even South America/Spain like a mini lobster)

  • The mashed potatoes at St Anselm are pretty incredible. Lots of aromatics and served in a clay pot so that the sides and top get crusty.

They nailed the cook without it being gamey/lamby, and still able to enjoy perfectly seasoned pink meat. The sauce was electric especially with the crispy mashed potatoes.

  • It's one of my favorite steak's in the city, if not the favorite. Not even considering price as a factor, it easily beats out most of the classic/OG steakhouses I've been to.

  • replying to u/LeftReflection6620: I got the au poivre steak at St Anslems for like $50+ and thought the hanger was better haha. Definitely a great bang for buck

The hanger blew the rib eye out of the water. We should have just gotten 10 of those.

  • It was alright, but not worth how expensive it is. I've cooked tastier, giant, wood-fire rebeyes at my home many times. Their creamed spinach equivalent dish on the menu was overcooked and kind of just bad to be honest.

  • replying to u/AttemptRough3891: Wait, when you say rude do you mean NYC steakhouse rude, ala Luger's "Your mere presence here is annoying the waitstaff' or just the lack of fine dining type service? I've eaten at St Anselm's a few times and didn't think the service was unpleasant or rude in any way, if not overtly "friendly".

They forgot my drinks, took ages to come by our table on a night that wasn’t very busy, ignored my friend entirely when she requested water twice.

  • Personally, I think St Anselm has a great vibe, does some great apps/sides, and the value on the butchers cut is great, but the quality of their steaks is just solid not amazing.

I think St Anselm does some sides very well (I love the sunchokes when they’re on the menu, and the grilled scallions), but the potatoes actually don’t excite me. And their creamed spinach is not creamed enough for my taste. Still love the restaurant though.

  • That said their seafood is incredible, and seems to only get better. The more unusual veggie on their menu are also exceptionally good.

  • I had one of the worst meals of my life there. Server was drunk, produce came out still frozen, etc
