Coqodaq

  • The Bucket List feast was I believe worth the $42 though they do not give you as much chicken as you’d expect. Not a true bucket of chicken, but it tasted really good and I really enjoyed their signature sauces, salad, noodles and frozen yogurt it all comes with.

  • The food wasn’t that good nor was the spectacle but my husband had fun.

  • Cocodaq is my no eat list.  We waited one hour to be seated after our table was “ready”, chicken overpriced, chicken nugget with caviar was comically dry and worse than a McNugget and they had a pate we sent back because it tasted like vomit.  0/5.

  • replying to u/AquaAllegoria2: Did you go by yourself? I’m meh on the place after the owners comments in the NYT about solo diners making the vibe “awkward” and not offering solo reservations. Doesn’t seem worth it to me.

I had a good time though and went back as a party of two.

  • replying to u/misterstepsss: All talk with no action. His restaurants have bad service. Pretentious to make it look like they’re doing something but makes a lot of amateur mistakes and is actually terrible. Don’t get me started on the cocodaq menu items.

We went to coqodaq a few weeks ago. Literally the opposite experience of what he's describing. Rushed service. Steering you towards the bucket and no dessert bc they wanted you out so they could cycle more people through. Awful experience.

  • The original blend chicken with sauces was my favorite part. The sauced ones were good too but I preferred the original crispy and adding my own sauce

  • So was sad that Coqodaq was a total miss for me. Chicken was fine, but the sauces were forgettable, the glazed ones were bland and the sides uninspired.

  • replying to u/secretsofthedivine: Cocodaq is just not good unfortunately

Been twice and both times I wanted to like this so much more than I did. Original chicken is good but the sauces are forgettable (odd they don't have a truly spicy one) and the "flavored" ones are just bland.

  • replying to u/lunacraz: yeah COCODAQ is overrated. you can get the similar quality chicken at Turntable or (dare i say) even bonchon chicken. the chicken nugget with caviar was pretty cool to try but it was basically a mcdonalds chicken nugget

It’s great, but there are other spots with comparable quality chicken.

  • replying to u/pink3rbellx: Coqodaq. Nasty food and so expensive, I wish we would’ve went to Popeyes instead.

it is one of those ambiance = 10/10 and food = 3/10 places. Chicken is only so crispy because there is an inch and a half of batter on it. The caeser salad was really good though.

  • It’s $38 for what can amount to a 5-course meal, that’s great value. 2 of the 5 being fried chicken. The chicken is some of the best I’ve had in this city, not to mention the other dishes complement the chicken really well and don’t overwhelm you.

  • You get really good fried chicken, good sauces, and sides for $38 in a beautiful, trendy and fun environment. Nobody is forcing you to try the caviar nuggets. I always leave satisfied.

  • the star of coqodaq is the champagne list, and if you’re going to coqodaq just for chicken you’re kinda missing the point. They have the biggest champagne list in the country with plenty of well priced bottles that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

  • it was a ton of food for us and we left very happy. You are definitely paying a little more for the ambience, but can’t we say the same for every other restaurant? If you’re looking for a fun night with a group of friends on a budget, this is a good option.

  • Normally don’t love negging a restaurant, but had a WILD infrastructure failure experience. We were made to wait at the door for 15 minutes until our table was ready. Food was delivered incredibly late.

  • Herding people to the bar for the shameless upsell is so trashy and disrespectful to people. They did this to us at Cote and Cocodaq for 15-20 minutes, won’t be returning to either.

  • replying to u/justflipping: What did you like about it? How would you compare it to other Korean fried chicken you’ve had?

It’s way worse and way more expensive. The batter is like a weird shell. Get Korean fried chicken literally anywhere else

  • replying to u/crazeman: I was scrolling through their menu and saw that [they were charging $35 for a 3 piece chicken meal back in April 2023](https://maps.app.goo.gl/LKyEwVhMkhZiVJ1p9). It came with 3 sides instead of 2 and each side is $7 so it's about the same price as now ($27+$7). At $35 for fried chicken, you're competing with Coqodaq which charges $38 per person for their Chicken List bucket. I haven't been to either but I would much rather try Coqodaq rather than Pecking House if given the choice.

Pecking house chicken is waaaay better than coqadoq, not even close.

  • replying to u/boroughthoughts: I don't think you have to love any restaurant, but I have a hard time understanding why hate a place that does 38$ set menu in Chelsea/Flat Iron. It doesn't matter where I go, but anywhere that is a sit down restaurant with a nice atmosphere, I usually spend 60$ per person with friends. Cocodaq does a good job of giving off date night vibes with reasonably good food at an accessible price. Its its going to blow your mind or going to be the best Korean Fried Chicken in the tri-state area? Probably not. I am sure there is some hole in the wall in Fort Lee or K-town that probably is better. Also, they didn't invent the whole concept of putting caviar on Korean fried chicken. They serve it at Michelin Star JeJu Noodle Bar. The concept was popularized by David Chang who charged 500$ for it at one of his restaurants and was featured on shows like buzz feed's worth it. There are tons of copy cat recipes for it and concepts. I am not going to blame a restaurant for capitalizing on a trend that people already showed they were willing to pay for. Caviar is already a somewhat ridiculous and expensive ingredient, so I can't really hate on their price for the whole chicken nugget with Caviar. I haven't eaten at Cote either, so I am not going to judge it. But I think its pretty commendable that a Michelin Star restaurant organizes their core menu around a 78$ set menu. That easily makes them the most accessible with the accolade in this city. Especially many people in this reddit cheer…

Cocodaq was really for atmosphere but the food isn’t terrible, it is just over hyped.

  • replying to u/IvoShandor: No. I was brought there for somebody’s birthday party, it’s one of those Instagram friendly places for people to take lots of pictures of their food. I’m glad I did not pay. I  definitely would not get takeout from there

I think the chicken there is actually pretty good.
