Lilia

5.3/10Italian

AI-generated summary

Get the and the focaccia. Those are the two people come back for, plus the Italian Job for dessert. People split hard on everything else. Plenty say the other pastas are forgettable and not worth the reservation hassle. Bar seats open up if you line up before the door unlocks.

  • replying to u/Yogohan: Strongly disagree. What did you have?

The only notable dishes were the clams and the dessert. Our table was seated 45 minutes after our reservation time with no apology whatsoever, and the service was downright antagonistic.

  • I think yes there are “better” spots but these two places are pretty unique in that you won’t find those same dishes elsewhere (green butter foccacia, sheep’s milk agnolotti or Italian job gelato from Lilia or the whipped ricotta toast from misi) so it’s worth a try if you’re in nyc.

  • replying to u/mulleargian: It is not popular on this sub, but my number 1 has been Lilia for a good while now- I've had consistently amazing experiences here. I haven't been in about ten months, but am returning next month- I'll be curious to see if the standard has slipped dramatically, as the vibe here is visceral disappointment towards the place. My balance favorites (in no particular order) are Via Carota, Minetta Tavern, Sushi Yasuda and Fish Cheeks

it was SO disappointing. The food was just..not good at all.

  • replying to u/Nermal_Nobody: Also thought Recette STUNK! Where did you have steak you enjoyed this year? Rolos was good imo

that’s my favorite steak - their off menu rib eye is so well seasoned, prepared on their wood fire open grill, same goes for their lamb leg steak - that is in my opinion the best value for money and amazing taste.

  • (IMO) the absolute most standout dishes for me have been the veggies, don’t get me wrong the pasta is great

  • replying to u/gol_azizam: I dream about the mafaldine pasta tho 😫

It has admittedly been my fav pasta I’ve tried at Lilia (and I’ve tried most of them) but the pink peppercorn is a little too overpowering for me. Their mussels on the other hand are fabulous
