Ci Siamo

6.3/10Italian

AI-generated summary

Get the and the focaccia. People call the focaccia some of the best bread in the city. The gets strong marks for the price too. Plenty of people find the food too rich, though, with oily and heavy salt, and a few felt sick after. The room is loud and gets warm from the ovens.

  • Kind of relieved to see this post, I went recently and really wasn't a fan but couldn't tell if it had just been an off night.

  • there was so much oil and fat that the pasta was sticking together in a gloopy way (not overcooked). I couldn’t finish it and I’m a proud carb fiend. We both had upset stomachs the next day because the food was so heavy. No desire to return.

    H3

  • Over salted , over fatty, and over hyped. The onion tart was like eating a tick of butter. My crab pasta came undercooked. Don’t believe the Instagram hype

  • That said, Ci Siamo was wonderful when I went. I wouldn’t want to eat a bowl of their pasta on its own because it’s so rich, but it’s perfect for sharing.

  • replying to u/phatbeatz2152: Cool spot. My experience was some good and bad. Good: focaccia Bad: Trout Wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but if you’re in the area for lunch or something, I’d recommend checking it out

dinner was a hot mess. The guanciale pasta was inedibly salty, the first restaurant dish in my life I straight up could not finish.

  • replying to u/QnsPrince: Def not the best restaurant in ny. Mediocre.

However everything was over salted. The only dish that was really stellar was trout cooked in the wood burning stove- likely because they served this last, and by that point in our meal we were craving something simple to cleanse our palates.

  • Ci Siamo is great because of that wood fired oven. Really adds depth to meat and veggie dishes that are already complex with flavor.

  • Ci siamo focaccia is GOOD. No tomatoes just like the most pillowy dough with some good salt rosemary and olive oil perfect texture I cannot emphasize that enough.

  • Pastas were mid, steak didn't have any character and the steak and just all the dishes in general just gave the impression there was no wood fire in the kitchen despite staring at it the whole time. Just a huge let down to see such potential not be utilized really at all.

    H3

  • Everything was oily and heavy, pasta was mid, and the steak weirdly tasted like it had been cooked in coconut oil - we couldn’t even finish it.
