The Modern

Add the eggs on eggs on eggs. , yolk sauce and brioche soldiers, and people still bring it up years later. Lunch is where regulars send you, a two Michelin star meal at a much lower price. Service gets steady praise. The room is loud enough that people struggle to hear their own table, and some say the dinner tasting is forgettable next to that one dish.

  • The food was amazing. The tartare melted in your mouth and was perfect paired with crispy, fluffy potatoes. The pasta sauce was like a gravy that went perfectly with the rabbit.

  • Honestly pleasantly surprised! Or I’m biased because I love the decor so much.

  • The kitchen table experience at The Modern was fantastic and one of the more unique dining experiences in NYC. Incredible hospitality towards a curated visit, personalized attention in the kitchen and cooks/chefs were coming up throughout the meal to chat and answer any questions about the food and profession in general.

  • Between the cuisine and dining room, dinner at the Modern might be disappointing (but if it’s one your first experiences, it’s a good gateway).

  • replying to u/TabbyUniverse: I had an impeccable experience at The Modern. As service goes there will be off days and even times. I did go a couple years back though so maybe things have changed. I found their tasting menu was really diverse and exceptionally presented, and had a really great seat and waiter. The only thing keeping me from visiting is the price point, not to fault the restaurant but just to say fine dining establishments warrant a special occasion designation for most. Eggs on eggs on eggs is a really fun presentation and overall dish, glad to see they still have it on the menu.

I went to lunch there recently, and I thought the service was flawless. A gentleman removed a drooping flower from our table in such an unintrusive way that my dining partner didn't even notice. I thought the pace was perfect and the dishes outstanding.
