Soothr

Get the or the , the people keep recommending. The warning everyone repeats is the service. Tables run on a 90 minute clock, and people say they get seated late and pushed out on time anyway, with plates cleared while they're still eating. It's also cramped and loud, and a few find the food too sweet.

  • I thought the soothr khao soi was underwhelming. Pickles are a core element of khao soi and the soothr version didn’t have any. Like none at all.

  • replying to u/GochujangChips: Soothr. Bland and two sweet - maybe adjusted for the American palate.

I thought it was way too sweet and not spicy at all. Maybe it's good if you only have a bite or two when sharing dishes, but I don't think it's good if that's all you're going to eat.

  • I went last year and was so underwhelmed. I got the duck noodles which came highly recommended but it was just wonton egg noodles, a few pieces of vegetables and yes the duck was delicious they weren't enough to carry the meal, and certainly not for $28 or whatever it was.

  • replying to u/waxing_gibbous_: i was so disappointed by soothr when i went a few weeks ago… couldn’t tell if it had always been that way or if it was a bad night. not worth the hype ;(

Omg same I had the karee pu today and was so disappointed. The sauce was bland and mushy like baby food.

  • replying to u/sekif: Soothr. Maybe a bad date influenced it, but I cannot stand that place now.

The food was really good when I went but the service made me never want to revisit. Cold, rushed, literally hovering over our table watching us eat and trying to take away plates while we were still eating them-same with our cocktails.

  • Definitely try the koong karee, it’s a signature dish for them and really really delicious. We also like the masamun curry and khao soi. All of the curries are flavorful and the protein extremely tender.
